HOUSING ASSOCIATIONS

A recent quarterly survey (31 Mar 11) by the Tenants Services Authority (TSA) identified the following key challenges facing housing associations:
• The reduction in public subsidy
• Increasing interest and inflation rates
• The continued weakness in the housing market
• Changes to accounting policy
• Tighter funding conditions.

The traditional approach of stock rationalisation, mergers and restructuring continue to be used by housing associations as a countermeasure to these challenges, but they may prove insufficient to fund growth and improved customer service in the long run.

We have worked with numerous housing associations and local authority housing departments. We have worked at CEO/Director level to strategically plan transformation using Lean, at process level to create customer-focused, right-first-time processes, and with teams to identify and remove root cause problems, reducing wastes and costs.
